CTA project manager Josh Hersel, 33, determined he wanted to design buildings for a living back when he was in the ninth grade. So September is a hallmark month for him; with the passing of his architect registration examination (ARE), he’s attained his long-sought architect’s license in the state of Idaho.

He credits his wife and two young daughters with giving him an extra push to stay motivated about attaining licensure.

“It’s been a long and rewarding journey,” Hersel notes. “I’m excited to see where the future takes me!”

With bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from the University of Idaho, Hersel has worked for CTA Architects Engineers since May 2005. He began as an architect-in-training at CTA’s McCall, ID, office, but has since joined the Boise, ID, team, serving as a project architect and project manager.

His focus has been in CTA’s Commercial and Living vertical markets; and his noted projects include Alpine Village condos in McCall; the Scentsy, Inc. corporate campus in Meridian, ID; homes and apartments in Colorado, Montana, and Texas; and an 11,000 sq. ft. custom private residence in McCall, complete with a two-lane bowling alley, home theater, workout room, and an apartment above the garage.
