“Hello, my name is Ari and I’ve wanted to be an architect since I was little kid.”

Going into my last year of high school, I chose to job shadow Josh Shiverick at CTA Architects Engineers this summer. I have been interested in architecture for such a long time, I remember going on trips when I was young and my sister would take photos of the sunsets and beaches and I would take photos of the buildings in the cities. Design is one of my passions, along with art and dance.

I am so lucky to have this opportunity to work in the CTA office a few times a week. When I showed up I was introduced to everyone and I felt very welcome. My project this summer is redesigning one of the biggest spaces in my school. I’m learning how to diagram spaces and understand the basic functions of a space. I am super excited to start making a 3D model of the space. To design something that will last excites me. I want my work to be purposeful and I hope that even just over this summer and my relationship with CTA, I can find a purpose. My goal with this experience is to come away with skills that I will use the rest of my life, make new connections, and help me understand where I want to go in life.

Ari is a student at One Stone High School in Boise, ID. Read more about CTA’s relationship with One Stone here.
