Bureau of Indian Affairs K-8 Schools
CTA, as part of a design/build team, has provided full architectural and engineering services for five, K-8 Bureau of Indian Affairs schools nation-wide. The schools range from 24,306 to 61,900 sq. ft. and many of them include dormitories and staff housing units. The projects include general and specialized classrooms, educational support areas such as a kitchen/dining area and library/media center, administrative areas, and athletic and recreational facilities. Utilities and site development consisted of access roads, parking and drop-off areas, sewage lagoon, on-site storm water retention, curb and gutter, exterior lighting, sidewalks, landscaping, irrigation, baseball fields, outdoor basketball courts, new playground structures, and perimeter fencing.
LEED Silver certification was required, and energy conservation measures were a priority. Features included energy-efficient light fixtures, daylighting strategies, and windows and roofs designed with better than standard thermal properties.
