Project Overview:
The process of making beer is not only interesting, it's everything. And that's why it's important to make sure that the architecture allows the process to be expressed; the beer making is more important, meaning that the architecture should take a backseat to it, and support the expression of making beer - not the other way around. The design allows all aspects of the process -from start to finish - to be expressed to the patrons of the establishment.
The grain storage and mill were placed near the entry, so as people approach the entry they would see the sacks of malt and grains, and as they proceed into the building they actually walk under the auger that delivers the grains to the hopper above the mash kettle.
The Brewhouse and the Fermentation Room are both open to the view of customers from both the inside and the outside. A loft area hovers above the bar, allowing people seated above to look down into the Fermentation Room, and also across the road to the spectacular views of Flathead Lake and the Swan Mountain Range.
