Town & Country Markets’ Bainbridge Island project was a unique collaboration opportunity where Cushing Terrell worked with two local Bainbridge architectural firms to design this 42,000 sq. ft. store’s remodel. One remarkable characteristic is the store’s location on Winslow Way, which serves as the downtown strip and heart of the small island community of Bainbridge Island. It would have been far less expensive for Town & Country to purchase and develop a new property outside of the downtown core versus undertaking this remodel, but the team was committed to the endeavor. Every wall came down in order to develop a modern and sustainable project, which earned LEED Gold Certification under LEED Retail v2009. Sustainable features included: a 32kW rooftop solar array, LED lighting inside and out, use of low-VOC materials, low-flow toilets and sinks, storm water filtration. Cushing Terrell designed the interior of the store and contributed fixture planning, equipment selection and engineering coordination, casework design, interior finish selection, décor team coordination, and LEED documentation for equipment.
